Prescription Assistance Program
HealthWorks provides eligible patients with access to a Prescription Assistance Program.
Over 200 pharmaceutical companies have patient assistance programs that provide medications to uninsured people who have limited incomes. Almost 3,000 brand name medications are offered through these programs, most for the treatment of chronic diseases.
During calendar year 2017, HealthWorks provided 789 patients with 2811 prescriptions free of charge. The retail value of these prescriptions totaled $4,797,905. The majority of these were for the treatment of conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and asthma.
When patients do not qualify for these pharmaceutical assistance programs we can help them by finding the lowest retail prices and by providing them with prescription discount cards.
Affordable Care Act (ACA)
Through the Marketplace, you may be eligible for private health insurance with savings based on your income. Insurance plans cover essential health benefits, pre-existing conditions and preventive care.
Essential health benefits include at least the following items and services:
Ambulatory patient services (outpatient care you get without being admitted to a hospital)
Hospitalization (such as surgery)
Pregnancy, maternity, and newborn care (care before and after your baby is born)
Mental health and substance use disorder services, including behavioral health treatment
Rehabilitative and habilitative services and devices
Preventive and wellness services and chronic disease management
No insurer can reject you, charge you more or refuse to pay for essential health benefits for any medical condition you had before your coverage started, known as a pre-existing condition.
Most people who apply through the Marketplace qualify for premium tax credits and savings on out-of-pocket costs based on household size and income.
HealthWorks has counselors who are here to help you enroll in an affordable health care plan that works for you and your family. Appointments are required and can be made by calling 703-840-4699.
